Your Future

Whether you’re changing careers, learning a new trade, or getting on the path to a degree or certificate, we’re here to help.

Returning to School or Changing Careers Can Be Daunting. Let Us Help.

Returning to school to finish what you started can seem overwhelming…but it doesn’t have to be that way. Sometimes life just happens to get hard. We want to help you pick up where you stopped. Whether that means changing careers, learning a new trade, or getting on the path to a degree or certificate, we’re here to help you for free.

Let us connect you with an educational navigator, who will be your personal cheerleader and guide through the process of returning to school or job training. He or she will help you identify a goal, create a plan to reach that goal, and connect you to the resources that will help you achieve your goal at no cost to you.

Importantly, the navigators identify non-tuition financial barriers that may prevent you from finishing your degree or certificate and recommend solutions to address those barriers and set you on the road to success.

OPC Hosts Degree Completion Day on October 23

Event is open to all who have earned some college credits

Did you earn some college credits but left college without a degree? Come to Degree Completion Day at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, 350 Eddy Street, Providence on Wednesday, October 23rd, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to get free one-on-one assistance with reenrollment. Experts will be on hand to advise about resources that address common barriers to degree completion, such as transferring credits, books, technology, tuition bills, transportation, and more.

Hosted by Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, this effort aims to reenroll adults onsite into local colleges so they can finish degrees. Colleges will be on hand to enroll students for the spring semester.

Most Rhode Island colleges have implemented policies and programs that make finishing degrees easier for people who had to leave college before earning all the credits needed for the degree. The Rhode Island Reconnect program of the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner has resources that enhance the institutions’ efforts to provide students with the support they need to return to school and be successful. In the RI Reconnect program, students are paired with educational navigators who guide them through the process of returning to school and advise them on free resources that address obstacles to degree completion.

Registration for this free event is required. This event is a good match for students who do not have a degree but have earned at least 30 college credits at any college or university in the United States or abroad. Questions can be directed to navigator@riopc.edu.
